One of our clients is going through a routine audit with their regulatory body, and a question that we have never been asked before was posed by their IT person - what verification is being done by the patch management system (RMM software in this case) f. Hey Spice Heads I want your thoughts :Do we really need to tell client's to buy this?If IT has good sound cybersecurity procedures in place is insurance needed?

The correct way to fix this is to change the subnetting so that the other NIC (and the cameras) are on a subnet that is NOT covered by the subnet that the workstations are on. (I can think of a few others, but they're equally bad.) This is a VERY bad idea and I would not recommend it (and the device might not even support it). Adding a route in your firewall/router will NOT help because the workstation considers the NIC's IP to be on the local network the packets will never be sent to the firewall/router.Ībout the only way to fix this without resubnetting is to set up the NVR to proxy ARP for the devices on its other NIC.

The workstation will therefore attempt to ARP the NIC, which does not respond because it's not in the same broadcast domain. The problem is that the NVR's other NIC, at 10.1.150.100, is considered "local" by your workstation, because the NIC's IP is in the same subnet as the workstation. This configuration is broken and cannot readily be made to work without changing your subnetting. I can ping the NVR at 10.1.150.50 but not the other nic or the cameras themselves.Īny help you can provide would be appreciated. My workstation is on the 255.255.0.0 network and I want to be able to ping a camera on the 255.255.255.0 network.

#SCW NETWORKER PRO CAMERAS IN OTHER SUBNET HOW TO#

Im just really not sure how to approach this.I have a need to be able to ping a device on a different subnet. Put everything on the same subnet but a different vlan and maybe make some custom firewall rules (Which Unifi allows you to do but im unsure how to do that?)

#SCW NETWORKER PRO CAMERAS IN OTHER SUBNET INSTALL#

Install maybe remote desktop for the BlueIris desktop? (although this does make it more difficult to access the cameras individually.although I suppose I could do it via remote desktop as well through the blue-iris desktop) Get a cheap monitor/keyboard/mouse for my blue-iris desktop that's in the closet for any "camera configuration" To me (Which Im ignorant as hell on this). Guest network vlans don't have the ability to see other vlans/networks (Which is good for the cameras).īUT I really need the ability to be able to access my cameras'/blue-iris desktop from another computer in the house. So the problem is, unifi allows you to make a network "Guest" or "Corporate". Everything else is on the default LAN (Guest I just use for a separate guest SSID for my Access Point). Trusted - (Subnet 192.168.10.1/24) VLAN 10Ĭameras and BlueIris Desktop are attached to my Unifi switch and the ports are set to VLAN 30. Im also pretty new to a lot of networking things.Ĭameras - (Sbnet 192.168.30.1/24) VLAN 30 So I have a couple of IP Cameras, a BlueIris Desktop (serving as the NVR) and mostly Unifi equipment.
